Overdose Death Investigations

Course Description:
Drug-related overdose cases are increasing at an alarming rate across the United States. This course is designed to equip law enforcement with the tools necessary to successfully conduct and prosecute drug-related overdose cases.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Opioid crisis
2. Primary drugs causing overdoses
3. Federal drug conspiracy laws
4. Treating as homicide investigations
5. Toxicology overview
6. Processing/securing the crime scene
7. Challenges/interview/lack of cooperation
8. Proactive investigations
9. Utilizing victim’s phone during investigations
