Drug Identification
Course Description:
This presentation will focus on current trends in drug identification. It will offer an in-depth look into the various types of drugs that are available on the street and over the counter and the new methods of use and trafficking. It will examine how these drugs affect the body and how to recognize the use and abuse of these substances. It will examine how these drugs are manufactured, processed, distributed, and marketed in society.
This presentation will systematically look at all of the new trends that are occurring nationwide in the world of illicit drugs. The PowerPoint program contains information slides, photographs, and short videos to allow participants to view the new substances that are currently being used across the United States.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Participants will gain an understanding of the drug subculture and how the use and abuse of drugs impact the daily lives of all those they encounter.
- Participants will learn how to identify drugs of abuse, the paraphernalia associated with these drugs, as well as how they are packaged and distributed.
- Participants will gain insight as to the identification of drug users by the behavioral and symptomatic signs that are present in individuals who are “under the influence”.
- Participants will become aware of the new techniques that drug traffickers are using to circumvent law enforcement efforts.
- Participants will see the new dangers that are present in combating the drug war.
- Participants will become knowledgeable in the various types of interdiction/intervention programs that are available to combat the drug problem.
