Advanced Cryptocurrency Investigations

Cryptocurrency crimes continue to evolve as more and more criminals utilize bitcoin and altcoins to carry out their illicit activities. These crimes range from trafficking activities on the dark web to fraudulent activity and scams on regulated cryptocurrency exchanges. There has also been a tremendous uptick in criminals using NFT’s and staking platforms to launder proceeds of criminal activity.

The Advanced Cryptocurrency Investigations course is designed to prepare law enforcement officials to conduct these complex investigations. In-depth information will be presented on the most current cryptocurrency crimes with successful case studies to show how criminals can be positively identified and prosecuted.

Coinjoins and mixing services are becoming increasingly popular with criminals to attempt to obfuscate their cryptocurrency. Information will be presented on the most common types of coinjoins and mixing services and techniques to identify when a criminal is using these services on the blockchain. Information will be presented on advanced heuristics to de-mix the addresses and successfully track the transactions.

Class participants will be provided with Windows-based tablets and a demo account with Crypto Track Pro Analytical Tool. This will be used for the in-depth practical exercises focusing on advanced analytics and tracking. Real-life case studies will be presented, and the class participants will use their Crypto Track Pro demo account to successfully trace the transactions.

Participants must pass a course examination demonstrating mastery of all topics covered. Upon successful completion of the exam, an Advanced Cryptocurrency Investigations certificate will be issued, valid for a two-year time-period. Tuition-free recertification webinars will be available when the participants certification expires.
